Looking for a new home is exhilarating, but when you are checking out areas you have heard of but haven't been too before, it can be very challenging.

We have two suggestions to help ease the anxieties that can accompany a home search across the Hudson:

2. Choose a local expert to help you! While you may be doing a lot of searching online, information can either be misleading or out of date; this is where an agent earns their keep. As one tip, we help our clients search by monthly budget (which is technically how you are reviewed by a lender) which is much harder to do online without bringing a calculator or pad & pencil to accompany you. We can also help you see beyond the initial appearance of the home or give you advice you might not have considered that could turn a lemon into lemonade. Lastly, get a tour of the area to see schools, parks, public transportation and other amenities because you aren't just buying a home, you are buying into a community.
