Good morning, Park Slope. Here's what's going on this weekend in the neighborhood.

Saturday

  • FIDO in Prospect Park offers free goodies for dogs and their owners as well as provides information pertaining to off-leash activities and issues. Meet in the Meadow beside the Picnic House. Enter at Prospect Park West and 3rd Street. Rain or shine.
  • Enjoy morning Tai Chi and Qigong in Prospect Park at 9:30 a.m. with Brooklyn Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy.
  • Spend a summer afternoon under the shade of the trees learning Nine-Man Morris, a board game that dates back to colonial times, at the Lefferts House at Prospect Park. You can even make your very own playing board to take home with you.
  • Nine-time Grammy winner Eddie Palmieri, the Spanish Harlem-born granddaddy of salsa and Latin jazz piano, returns to Celebrate Brooklyn with an orchestra in tow to ignite the dance floor. Starts at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday
  • Head to Grand Army Plaza on the first and third Sunday of August to sample treats from New York’s best food trucks. All trucks are members of the New York Food Truck Association.
  • Adopt a cat or dog from the One Love Animal Hospital at 82-09 Third Ave. anytime between 12 and 5 p.m.
  • Bring your young ones to Pirate School!, a madcap, swashbuckling one-man family show that allows kids to live their dreams of the Golden Age of the Pirate while promoting everyday polite behavior and social courage. Goes from 1 to 2 p.m. Head to the Waterfront Museum and Showboat Barge, 290 Conover St.
