The Park Slope Business Improvement District and local shops are aiming to collect 500 school supply-filled backpacks for families in need.
PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Neighbors in Park Slope are rallying to collect school supplies for hundreds of Brooklyn families before September.
In partnership with local businesses, the Fifth Avenue Park Slope Business Improvement District aims to collect 500 school supply-filled backpacks this month.
The supplies will then be donated to Brooklyn families in need through Camp Friendship, an after school program-slash-pantry, and Imani House, a youth and social services non-profit. Both organizations are based in Park Slope.

Backpacks should be filled with school supplies including notebooks, loose leaf paper, calculators, pens, pencils, scissors, lunch boxes and rulers, organizers said.
The back-to-school supplies can then be dropped at an array of local Park Slope businesses including Lulu’s Cuts and Toys, Slope Vintage, Annie’s Blue Ribbon Ribbon General Store and Roots Cafe — among many others.
