Photo: This Apartment Building Will Tower Over the Brooklyn Lyceum
Park Slope gets a fancy new residential tower.

Here it is — the long-awaited rendering of a new apartment building going in next to the Brooklyn Lyceum in Park Slope.
The building, at 227 4th Avenue, is owned by property developer Greystone and designed by Manhattan firm Daniel Goldner Architects.
It has the firm’s signature modern look, all skinny windows and tiered verticals and Earthy tones — pretty much the aesthetic opposite of the Brooklyn Lyceum, the old bath house and historic landmark next door.

Brownstoner reports that unlike many unpopular new developments in the area, this 12-story tower of luxury rentals will host retail shops on its bottom floors, “bringing street life to this prominent stretch of 4th Avenue.”
More good news: Greystone, which also owns the Lyceum, has promised to fill the old bathhouse with shops, not condos.
