PHOTOS: A Look Inside The Tombs of Green-Wood Cemetery

A rare look into Green-Wood's tombs and mausolea that have been locked up for years.

This past weekend, Green-Wood opened the heavy stone doors of to the public for the first time in the cemetery's history.

On Saturday, Patch took a tour of the Anderson family, Durant family and Morgan family tombs. We also walked through the spooky cavernous Catacombs, an above-ground burial tunnel filled with family crypts dating back to the 1850s.

Check out the photo gallery to see the creepy spaces where some of Green-Wood's famous permanent residents lay to rest forever.
