School Officer Arrested For Restaurant 'Beatdown,' Report Says

An off-duty NYPD school safety agent was arrested and charged with assault, police said.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — An NYPD school safety agent was arrested and charged with assault after she joined in with family members for a "beatdown" of another person inside of a Park Slope restaurant, according to police and the New York Post.

Nilsa J. Lopez, 50, was with two other family members inside of Rachel’s Taqueria, on Fifth Avenue near Seventh Street, around 8 p.m. on Friday night, the Post reported.

There, Lopez, along with her husband and daughter — John Lopez, 67, and Arianna Lopez, 17, according to the Post — pummeled a 26-year-old woman in the back of the head, according to the Post.

The family members were all arrested, the Post reported. Lopez was charged with assault, according to police.

John Lopez, though, contradicted the Post's account. "We were victimized," he told the Post. "They attacked us and we ended up in lockup and now we’ve got to go to court and all that. They were drinking, they were all riled up. We were provoked."
