Wall Of Park Slope Home Collapses, Police Say
The side wall of a home on 17th Street collapsed Tuesday, forcing police to evacuate buildings and shut down the block.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A Park Slope block was shut down Tuesday and homes on the street were evacuated when a home on the block partially collapsed, police said.
The side wall of a home on 17th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues crumbled shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, police said. Officers from the NYPD's 72nd Precinct blocked off access to the street as neighbors were evacuated. Nobody was injured, police said.
The city Department of Buildings will conduct a structural stability inspection of the three-story building, according to records on the department's website.

In May 2019 the home's owner filed a complaint with the DOB that street construction was causing "a lot of cracks on my walls." Records shows that nobody responded when DOB inspectors were sent to the building on two days after the complaint was filed.
