Work Stalls On Park Slope's Grand Prospect Hall Replacement: Report
Only a foundation is laid where Park Slope's Grand Prospect Hall once stood. Now, the plot is destined for apartments.

PARK SLOPE, NY — Construction on a new apartment building to replace a historic Park Slope event space is slow-moving, Brownstoner reported.
Nearly two years after the historic structure on Prospect Avenue was razed, the building's new owners plan to install a 147-unit residential building capping at five stories tall, city records show.
But little more construction has continued since a foundation was laid to make a 421-a tax abatement program deadline in 2022, Brownstoner reported.

The owner seems to be still waiting on a permit to build the five-story residential building, Brownstoner reported.
And as construction looms, locals have levied complaints about debris from the construction site, improper lighting and construction materials being unsafe, city buildings records show.

Before the building's demolition, locals made a months-long effort to save the century-old banquet hall built in 1892.
"This historic venue, host to Brooklyn's oldest operating elevator, is now at risk of disappearing from existence, destroying its legacy and the location where thousands of weddings, festivals, and concerts have taken place over its 129-year lifespan," locals wrote in a petition in 2021.
