BROOKLYN, NY — A young woman was groped in a Brooklyn subway station this weekend by an attacker who tried to muffle her screams, police said.

The 20-year-old was walking in the Carroll Street subway station, located at the corner of Smith and President streets, shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday when a man wearing a Brooklyn Nets baseball cap grabbed her from behind, according to the NYPD.

The man put his hand over the woman's mouth to try and muffle the sounds of her screams, police said.
