Suffolk Driver Fled Scene Of Crash, Seriously Injuring Man, 32: Police

The injured man was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, Suffolk police said.

NORTH BELLPORT, NY — A man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident that seriously injured a pedestrian in North Bellport Saturday morning, Suffolk police said.

The 32-year-old man was in the roadway at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Agamemnon Avenue when he was struck by a 2008 Chevrolet Impala at around 5:50 a.m., according to police.

The man was taken with serious injuries to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, police said.

An investigation by 5th Squad detectives determined Michael Turner, 48, of Bellport, was driving the vehicle that fled, according to police.

He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting with serious injury, police said.

Further details were not available.

He will be held overnight for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
