Drunk Driver Crashes Into Patchogue Business: Police

A 44-year-old man who was driving the wrong way on Main Street before the crash was arrested, police say. A woman in the car was injured.

PATCHOGUE, NY – A 44-year-old man was arrested on a DWI charge after he crashed his car into a Patchogue business late Saturday night, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, Chester Ciancarelli was driving a 2012 Toyota Scion eastbound in the westbound lane on East Main Street, near the intersection of Bay Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into Long Island Ink located at 288 E. Main St. at about 11:45 p.m.

A 38-year-old female passenger in the Toyota was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Ciancarelli was not injured. The tattoo parlor, which closes at 11 p.m. on Saturdays, was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Ciancarelli, of Shirley, was arrested and charged with DWI. He was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
