Holy Angels Holds Exercise, Wellness Day

Students rotated through stations of wellness and fitness exercises in this different approach to a field day.

A Wellness/Fitness/Walk-A-Thon was recently held at Holy Angels Regional School in Patchogue.

Michele Mulderrig, principal of the school, told Patch that the event was put together as a different approach toward having a field day.

"The event consisted of ten stations for the entire school to experience," Mulderrig sent in an email.

Stations set up for students in grades pre-K through grade 8 included a safety presentation from the Suffolk County Fifth Precinct, healthy food preparation and tastings from parents and Cornell Cooperative Extension, Zumba, Yoga, Interval Training Boot Camp, a cooperative high-energy game and a meditative cool down.

Mulderrig said that over 50 volunteers helped support the event, and there are already plans in incorporate their common core standards into next year's event.
