🌱 LIRR New Station + Plaza Cinema Reopening + Boat Parade

Here are the top stories today in Patchogue:

1. Suffolk elected officials have picked what they say is the right spot for a relocated LIRR Yaphank station, near Brookhaven National Laboratory. County Executive Steve Bellone and Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine announced Friday that they had selected a location just east of the William Floyd Parkway, and south of the Long Island Expressway, for a new Yaphank train station. It will provide the strongest connection to the world-renowned Brookhaven National Laboratory and the East Yaphank community. (Newsday)
2. The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce and the Patchogue Riverfront Committee are going all out this weekend for the comeback of the 27th annual Patchogue Holiday Boat Parade on the Patchogue River. Festivities kick off on Saturday, Nov. 20, with a preview of the decorated boats docked at the Off-Key Tikki on River Avenue from 5 -9 p.m. The parade is on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. (GreaterBayShore)
3. The Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center in Patchogue will reopen Thanksgiving weekend with screenings of Kenneth Branagh’s "Belfast. The semi-autobiographical drama about a boy growing up in Northern Ireland in 1969, has been a critical success and is regarded as a strong Oscar contender. The 2 p.m. screening on Nov. 26 will become the Plaza’s first since closing in Mar. 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. (Newsday)
4. It's a big homecoming for Patchogue native actor Kevin Connolly. He will perform this weekend at The Paramount. Kevin turned his podcast "Victory the Podcast," co-starring Kevin Dillon and Merrick's Doug Ellin into a live show. (News 12 New Jersey)
