Suffolk Man Crashes Stolen ATV Into Stop Sign: Sheriff
He was driving the 2016 Yamaha Raptor 700R, reported stolen in July of 2022, recklessly, interfering with traffic, sheriff says.
YAPHANK, NY — A Middle Island man crashed a stolen ATV into a stop sign in Yaphank on Sunday, Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon's office said.
A yellow ATV that was being driven recklessly; speeding and interfering with the flow of traffic on northbound Sills Road in Yaphank was first spotted around 3 p.m. by three deputy sheriffs, including Investigator Sgt. Marco Calise, as well deputies James White and Dustin Defilippo, according to the sheriff's office.
Trevor Allen, 26, soon lost control of the ATV and crashed it into a stop sign, the office said.

After Allen was apprehended, the deputies found the 2016 Yamaha Raptor 700R was reported stolen in July of 2022, according to the office.
Allen was charged with seven vehicle and traffic law infractions, as well as third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.
