A light show and a solstice party are among the weekend's options for holiday activities.

Looking for something festive to do this weekend close to home? Here's our roundup of the top local holiday activities and events.

Smith Point Light Show

This weekend Smith Point County Park will be the site of the popular drive-through light show and the proceeds from the family-friendly event going to charity. Girl Scouts of Suffolk County and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone are joint hosts of the show, which runs tonight, Friday and Saturday nights from 5-9 p.m. on weeknights and 5 to 10 p.m. on weekend nights. The light show is 1.5 miles of holiday scenes and bright displays. Tickets can be purchased online. Cars are $20, mini buses are $40 and larger buses $70. The show will run through December 30th.

Winter Solstice Jam at the Blue Point Brewery

This Friday the Blue Point Brewery will host a Winter Solstice party to celebrate the shortest day of the year. Live music, a visit from Santa, an ice luge, and local vendors are on tap along with the specialty beer. A $10 cover charge includes your first pint of beer, and attendees are asked to bring a toy to donate. The event starts at 8 p.m. and is only open to those 21 years old and over.

Brunches with Santa

For a more family-friendly Santa sighting, several area restaurants will be featuring brunch with Santa this weekend. Drift 82 will host a holiday menu brunch with Santa on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Reservations are required. Rhum is doing a Sunday brunch buffet with photos with Santa, cookie decorating and holiday cocktails. Reserve a spot for 12 p.m. or 2 p.m. here.
