Here are the top stories in Patchogue today:

  1. A woman was found dead in an apartment fire in Patchogue on Wednesday, Suffolk police and village fire officials said. Patchogue firefighters arrived at the Rider Terrace Apartments on River Avenue at 6:15 p.m. and found the woman at the bottom of the stairs, said Joe Frisina, an ex-Patchogue fire captain and current public information officer for the department. Three apartments were damaged in the fire, said police, adding no other injuries were reported. (Newsday)
  2. The 59th annual Patchogue Christmas parade returns Saturday to Main Street — and this year’s celebration has some fun surprises in store. The parade, run by the village’s Parks & Recreation Department, will have a “Whoville Christmas” theme in honor of Dr. Seuss’ famous book “How The Grinch Stole Christmas! ” (GreaterBayShore)
  3. A new Steakhouse will join Patchogue Village's many dining options this winter. Chops will open in the former Flo's location at 38 W. Main St. Chops is the latest eatery from John Sarno, who owns Drift 82 in Patchogue and three Village Idiot restaurants. He told Great Long Island that Chops will be a high-end steakhouse, something he says the village still needs.(Patchogue Patch)
  4. Brookhaven Town and Suffolk County officials have weighed in on the relocation of the LIRR’s Yaphank train station for a few years. They’ve now finally reached an accord. Brookhaven Supervisor Ed Romaine and Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone sent a letter to LIRR president Philip Erg Friday to state their preferred site for a new Yaphank station on the Ronkonoma line.
