AGT Winner Grace VanderWaal Releases Perfect Summer Song

The singer's second single "Moonlight" is already earning praise.

PEARL RIVER—Grace VanderWaal released her new single "Moonlight" today and already Billboard is describing it as "the perfect summer song."

It's not the first time the 13-year-old singer-songwriter has been the subject of praise. The Suffern resident achieved fame in 2016 on "America's Got Talent," prompting the show's often-ascerbic judge Simon Cowell to call her "the next Taylor Swift" and inspiring singer Stevie Nicks to say "Whatever happens, Grace is going to the top." Not only did VanderWaal win Season 11 of America's Got Talent but her appearance led to a music deal with Columbia Records.

Thirteen may seem young for stardom but VanderWaal is a seasoned singer and composer. She's been writing songs since she was only three years old. She auditioned for America's Got Talent with an evocative original song, "I Don't Know My Name," which subsequently reached #27 on the iTunes Chart.

Despite her quick rise to stardom, VanderWaal has not forgotten her home town. She has donated funds to establish an elementary school choir in the East Ramapo School District.
