It's not the first time the 13-year-old singer-songwriter has been the subject of praise. The Suffern resident achieved fame in 2016 on "America's Got Talent," prompting the show's often-ascerbic judge Simon Cowell to call her "the next Taylor Swift" and inspiring singer Stevie Nicks to say "Whatever happens, Grace is going to the top." Not only did VanderWaal win Season 11 of America's Got Talent but her appearance led to a music deal with Columbia Records. Thirteen may seem young for stardom but VanderWaal is a seasoned singer and composer. She's been writing songs since she was only three years old. She auditioned for America's Got Talent with an evocative original song, "I Don't Know My Name," which subsequently reached #27 on the <a href="http://www.itunescharts.net/us/artists/music/grace-vanderwaal/songs/i-dont-know-my-name/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">iTunes Chart</a>.
