Community Gun Buyback Event to Be Held In Orangetown
It's a joint effort with the Rockland County Sheriff's Office, Orangetown Police, NY State Police, the DA's office and local departments.
ORANGETOWN, NY — A community gun buyback event will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Town of Orangetown Municipal Building, 65 Brookside Ave. in South Nyack.
The event is being held in partnership with Chief Donald Butterworth and the Orangetown Police Department, the New York State Police, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office and all local law enforcement agencies, Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco III said in an announcement.
"Gun violence continues to plague our county, state and the entire nation. Removing guns from our streets can potentially prevent them from being used in criminal and other violent acts that negatively impact our communities," he said. "I am proud to partner with the Orangetown Police Department, and all of Rockland County law enforcement in our ongoing efforts to keep the people safe."
