ORANGEBURG, NY — The Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education will host a conversation with the son of Elie Wiesel, American writer and Holocaust survivor who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986, in its commemoration of Kristallnacht.

On Nov. 9–10 in 1938, Nazi leaders organized pogroms against the Jewish population in Germany and recently incorporated territories. It came to be called Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass) because of the shattered glass that littered the streets after the vandalism and destruction of Jewish-owned businesses, synagogues, and homes, according to the Holocaust Encyclopedia.
