Cooking Class Supports Brest Buddies Fundraising Efforts
Del Arte's Restaurant in Orangeburg hosted the fundraiser Tuesday for the Brest Buddies, a group of women from Rockland County who participate in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Research each October.

Tuesday night, the 8th annual Del Arte Cooking Class fundraiser for the "Brest Buddies" was hosted by the Orangeburg Restaurant's Owner-Chef John Carollo and Owner-Hostess Rosemarie Carollo.
The "Brest Buddies" were formed in 2004 by Anne Marie Hogan who fought and won a fierce battle with breast cancer and decided to help other do the same
And serving the 90 attendees were the men of the Pearl River Hibernian House as "Celebrity Waiters and Tip Collectors [for the cause] who brought poor service and rich laughter to the evening.
The proceeds are used to pay the required sponsorship of $1,800 per person in the 2-day/26 miles"AVON Walk for Breast Cancer Research" which takes place in Manhattan in October.
As there are now 11 Brest Buddies - Rosemarie Carollo, Mary Ellen Clarke, Theresa Gallagher, Anne Marie Hogan, Mary Lynch, Anne Marie McGrory, Mary Murphy, Eileen Murphy, Theresa O'Rourke-Wolanski, Geraldine Ryan and Margaret Whelan, so that's $19,800 that must be raised every year.
And in the nine years of the Brest Buddies existence, well over $200,000 has been given over to find the cause and cure of this disease.
