Mickey Sullivan Duathlon to Fight Huntington's Disease

The Mickey Sullivan Duathlon to Fight Huntington's Disease will begin 8 a.m. Oct. 7 at Pearl River Middle School.

The event begins with a two-mile run followed by a 10-mile bike ride and concludes with another two-mile run. To register online, go to www.fighthd.org.

Proceeds will go to support Team KJ, a group of friends and family that participate in sprint triathlons and other endurance events in an effort to raise money to find a cure for Huntington’s Disease. Their goal is to help support the families in their community effected by this disease and continue to support medical research that will ultimately find a cure. Team KJ was formed in support of and is named for Kara Jean Fleming, who is fighting her own battle against HD.

The duathlon will be followed by a barbecue at the Pearl River Elks Club from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., something Team KJ had done in past years after participating in the West Point Triathlon. The barbecue is a separate cost of $30 for adults, which is collected at the door, but is free for kids.
