O&R Names McAvoy President, CEO
John J. McAvoy will take over as president and chief executive officer of Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. effective Jan. 1, 2013.

Con Edison Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Burke announced Friday that John J. McAvoy will be replace William G. Longhi as president and chief executive officer of O&R effective Jan. 1, 2013.
McAvoy is currently senior vice president of Central Operations at Consolidated Edison of New York, O&R's parent company. Longhi, who has been presiden of O&R for nearly four years, will become Con Edison's president, Shared Services.
McAvoy began working with Con Edison in 1980 and previously served as vice president of System and Transmission Operations, general manager of System Operations, general manager of Brooklyn/Queens Electric Operations, general manage of Substation Opeations and plant manager of the Indian Point and East River generating stations.
