{UPDATE} Orangetown Police: Pedestrian Struck by Car in Pearl River

21-year-old Spring Valley man was struck at the intersection of Route 304 and W. Washington Avenue in Pearl River Monday night. He was taken to Nyack Hospital, then to Westchester Medical Center.

Orangetown Police are investigating a late-night accident on Route 304 Monday night in which a 21-year-old Spring Valley man was struck an injured by a car.

Jean Souverain was walking eastbound trying to cross Route 304 at West Washington Avenue when he was hit by a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Vanessa Donato, 29, of Pearl River, at about 11 p.m. Police said it appears Souverain was not in the crosswalk at the time of the incident.

Donato was driving southbound on Route 304 at the time.

Souverain was taken to Nyack Hospital by members of the Pearl River Ambulance Corps and later transferred to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment of mulitple injuries from the accident. Donato was not injured.

Police said the Orangetown accident investigation team is reviewing the incident and ask that anyone who may have witnessed the accident call them at 845-359-3700.
