Orangetown's Getting A Splash Pad In Veterans Park
State grants will cover most of the cost of the project.

ORANGETOWN, NY — A Splash Pad will be installed at Orangetown's Veterans Memorial Park, Assemblyman Mike Lawler and Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick announced Friday.
The fun feature will be built with $375,000 in funding secured in the past two state budgets.
"I'm thrilled to be here today to announce the $50,000 SAM grant I was able to secure in last year's budget for the Town of Orangetown,” Lawler said in the announcement. "It is especially meaningful for me to provide this funding to my hometown, and to a project that my daughter and thousands of other kids from all across Orangetown will be able to enjoy."

The Senate and Assembly grants will cover most of the cost of the project, Lawler said, suggesting that the money Orangetown won't have to spend "can be conveyed back to the taxpayers and towards other critical projects within the town."
He praised town leadership for what he called "dramatic improvements" to Orangetown's parks and open spaces.
