
Pearl River won the varsity D race Saturday in the 4th Annual Wild Safari Cross Country Invitational at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ.
The Pirates scored 36 points to beat runner-up Mount St. Dominic's Academy, currently the top-ranked girls cross country team in New Jersey.
Pearl River also had the best team average of all 150 teams in the meet at 19:24, earning top team of the day honors.
Pearl River senior Kelly Hayes won the race for the second consecutive year and ran the course in 18:12, the fastest time among over 1,000 girls who competed Saturday.
