Nanuet Ends Pirates' Girls XC League Championship Streak
The Pearl River girls cross country team lost a league championship meet for the first time ever Tuesday while the boys won the League 4B title.
According to Pearl River girls cross country Head Coach Dan Doherty, league championships began in 1983.
The Pirates' girls had never lost one until Tuesday, when Nanuet won the League 4B team championship meet at Bear Mountain. Pearl River junior Kelly Hayes placed first overall in 17:31.91, but Nanuet had three runners in the top five and six in the top eight to take the championship. Pearl River finished second with Tappan Zee third.
