Suffern Teammates Get MLB Opportunities
Former major-league shortstop Walt Weiss, a Suffern High School Class of 1982 graduate, was hired by the Colorado Rockies to be the sixth manager in franchise history. He will be introduced at a press conference today.
Former Pearl River AD Tom Doherty pointed out that one of Weiss's former Suffern teammates, Tony Defrancesco (Class of '81) also recently got the opportunity to manage in the major leagues, though on a temporary basis. He finished the 2012 season as interim manager for the Houston Astros.
