The Pearl River facility has been the hub of the company's vaccine research, including Pfizer's partnership with BioNTech SE, Bloomberg reported.

With BioNTech, Pfizer developed the MRNA technology behind the COVID-19 vaccine.

Steve Bjornson, vice president and COO of vaccine research and development at Pfizer, said the company was running out of space.

"We're trying to keep up with the portfolio and enable the expansion of mRNA capacity," he told Bloomberg.
