Rockland County's Respect For Our Veterans

Rockland has an admirable network of support for our Veterans, which I will write about later, this is about our homeless Veterans

Much of this content is copied from and by request of "Todays Homeowners by Alexis Bennett", for which I am profoundly grateful.

Homelessness among military veterans is an unfortunate ongoing problem in America that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and many other organizations are working to address. The good news is that progress is being made — data indicates an 11% reduction in veteran homelessness between 2020 and 2022. "by Alexis"

Studies show that due to multiple factors, veterans face a higher risk of homelessness than the general population. In this section, we’ll explore some of these factors and provide a statistical overview of veteran homelessness in the United States. "by Alexis"

Contributing Factors to Veteran Homelessness. "by Alexis"
Veteran homelessness has multiple causes — we’ll discuss some important ones below.

Combat Exposure and PTSD
Lack of Affordable Housing
Civilian Job Transition
Veterans often deal with the aftermath of their experiences in combat, which can lead to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other mental health issues. This can make it difficult for them to maintain stable housing. All above "by Alexis".

Where Can Homeless Veterans Find Assistance?

The purpose of this article is tell how a tiny not-for-profit charity named "Rockland Homes For Heroes'' in partnership with the following did our share. It's partners are in alphabetical order.

Federal Home Loan Bank

Homes and Community Renewal of NYS

Homeless Housing Assistance & Prevention Grant Program of the NYS Office Of Temporary And Disability Assistance

Leviticus Fund - Faith Capital for Building Communities

NYS Energy Research

and there are some smaller organizations, but the very BIGGEST are the Businesses and Individuals of Rockland County who made contributions from a few dollars to thousands and still are !

The result -> we will cut the "Ribbon" before December for 14 beautiful new permanent affordable supported apartments furnished with every item a home requires for 14 former homeless veterans.

I am very proud in this case of our State and the businesses and residents of this fantastic County and I hope you will help by participating in the Fundraiser the profits of which will be used to make sure the new home is fully furnished in every way
