20 Acres Still Burning Near Bear Mountain Bridge

Yesterday afternoon's brush fire continues to blaze today.

A brush fire that broke out on Anthony's Nose continues to blaze through about 20 acres today, according to LoHud.com. Anthony's Nose is  the mountain, with steeply sloped terrain, on the east side of the Bear Mountain bridge.

The fire started around 4 p.m. yesterday and required the use of a county "bambi bucket" helicopter, used to dump water over the flames, said Westchester County Public Information Officer Kieran O'Leary.

Today, Continental Village firefighters headed out again around 7 a.m. Thursday to continue battling the fire. Expected wind may hamper their efforts and goal to have the fire knocked out by the end of the day, Continental Village Fire Chief Charlie Valt told LoHud.com's Rob Ryser.
