Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Help Families With Tax Preparation

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Lower Hudson Valley, courtesy of Volunteer New York!. This is a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Help Families With Tax Preparation
United Way of Rockland is looking for volunteers of all professional backgrounds and experience levels to help with its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program this tax season. Volunteers who pass an IRS tax preparer course will help eligible low- and moderate-income individuals and families to file their taxes and maximize their returns—all while learning a valuable life-long skill in the process! Volunteers must be 18+.
Date: Tuesdays and Thursdays in February/March (recruiting in January)

Golf, Hiking, Pickleball & Mah Jongg Volunteer Leaders
Alzheimer's Association is calling all volunteers who are passionate about Golfing, Hiking, Pickleball, and Mah Jongg to become volunteer leaders and rally fellow enthusiasts for its "Do What You Love to End ALZ™" program. Alzheimer's Association will provide all training and tools while volunteer leaders bring their love for their favorite activities in order to make a difference.

Volunteer Social Worker Board Member
MAC Angels Foundation is seeking volunteers with experience in social work to join its Board of Directors and serve as both a strategic advisor and an advocate for families impacted by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Board members must be 21+.
