Update: Cortlandt Opens Shelter; 373 Without Power After Storm
Storm watch remains in effect; Con Edison reports several power outages in the Town of Cortlandt.

Update, 6:30 p.m. July 28: Cortlandt Opens Shelter
Thank you to Supervisor Linda Puglisi for sharing this information:
1. The Town’s Westbrook Drive Community Center will be opened tonight 8PM until 10AM Thursday morning staffed by Town employees. If necessary, it will be extended.

2. Town crews will be out this evening assisting with tree removal and tree debris removal.
3. A town wide Code Red message is going out to residents telling them about the shelter (which has a back up generator to provide electricity).

Posted 4 p.m. July 18:
Hundreds are without power in the Town of Cortlandt following this afternoon’s storm, according to Con Edison’s power outage map.
About 373 Con Ed customers near Gallows Hill and off Red Mill Road have lost power. The power company's estimated restoration time is 10 and 11 p.m. tonight, according to its website.
Today’s storm moved in quickly around 2:30 p.m. with thunder, lightening, high winds and heavy rain.
The National Weather Services’ Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 9 p.m. The NWS reports that showers and thunderstorms are likely before midnight. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain.
