Suspect Hits Woman In Head With A Brick, Barricades Himself Inside Apartment: Peekskill Police

Officers responding to a 911 call reported hearing screams for help coming from inside the home when they arrived at the scene.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A tense standoff with police followed a brutal attack in Westchester County, according to police.

The Peekskill Police Department says that on Monday, around 5:59 a.m., officers responded to a Hudson Avenue address after receiving a report of an assault in progress. Once at the scene, police heard screams for help coming from inside the home.

When officers entered the building, they found a woman with a visible head injury being pursued by a man. When the man saw police, he headed into a second-floor apartment and barricaded himself inside.

Around 11 a.m., a search warrant for the second-floor apartment was issued, and Peekskill police officers executed the warrant and took the suspect, Jason M. Blume, into custody without further incident.

Blume was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in the City of Peekskill Court for second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.
