According to the Washington Post’s website, “The index score is the number of college-level tests given at a school in 2011 divided by the number of graduates that year. Also noted are the percentage of students who come from families that qualify for lunch subsidies and the percentage of graduates who passed at least one college-level test during their high school career, called equity and excellence, (E&E).”

This differs from other rankings in that it takes into account factors beyond test scores such as college attendance and includes a component for college-level classes. Hen Hud offers students access to 11 college level classes. This year 37% of our high school students are taking at least one college level class.

“This is a tremendous achievement for our students and community,” remarked Superintendent of Schools Dr. Daniel McCann.  “While these acknowledgments focus on our High School, it speaks of the work of all our teachers throughout the district. Education is a building process, with success in the lower levels crucial to success at the upper levels. Without our dedicated elementary and middle school staff, these achievements would not be possible.”
