Snow Accumulation Estimates, Timeline Released For New Year's Eve In Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Snow is expected to fall tonight throughout the Hudson Valley region, potentially making roads slick for New Year’s Eve partygoers.

The National Weather Service predicts much of the mid and lower Hudson Valley will get a coating to an inch of snow, with the snow starting around 10 p.m. and lasting into Thursday morning.

Snowfall totals are expected to be higher in northwestern parts of the Hudson Valley region, where some areas could get two to three inches.

“If you plan to be on the road tonight for New Year's Eve celebrations, note there will be widespread light snow arriving this evening (7-10 p.m.) before an arctic cold front ushers in snow squalls near/after 12 a.m. Drive/walk carefully & give yourself extra time!” the National Weather Service in Albany advises.

It will also be very cold tonight, with low temperatures in the 20 to 22 degree range, according to the National Weather Service.

After the snow clears out, New Year’s Day is expected to become sunny, with highs in the mid-20s.

Friday through Sunday are predicted to be dry, sunny and cold, with daytime high temperatures reaching the upper 20s to low 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph.

Tonight: Snow, mainly after 10 p.m. Low around 20. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

New Year's Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 26. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 10. West wind 3 to 6 mph.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 27. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 15.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 30.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 29.

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 31. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. West wind 11 to 14 mph.

Tonight: Light snow, mainly before 4 a.m. Low around 22. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

New Year's Day: Mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 22 by 5 p.m. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. Blustery, with a northwest wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 15. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. West wind 9 to 14 mph.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 29. West wind 9 to 14 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 19.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 30.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18.
