Attempted Break In On Old Oregon Road
The suspect fled when the owner caught him trying to break into her home; no one was harmed.
State and county police are roving through the Oregon Road area this afternoon on the hunt for a suspect who tried to break into a home at 19 Old Oregon Road. New York State Police Sergeant James Kranik described the suspect as a white male, around 35-40 years old.
Around 12 p.m. the homeowner heard something strange in her kitchen, that her husband said was the sound of the suspect lifting the screen off the track of their back window.
“My wife walked into the kitchen and was face to face with him and he ran,” said Richard Casey, 68, the husband.

As Delores Casey, the wife, was on the phone with 911 to report the attempted break-in the New York State police arrived at the house.
Casey said he saw the suspect ten minutes later across the street running towards the woods near Lent Street.

“I have lived here 40 years and never had a problem,” Richard said. Both he and his wife are retired and are normally home during the day, so he does not suspect the person had been staking out their home. “We have our car in the driveway too.”
Around 2 p.m. Kranik said that police had not caught the suspect yet and would probably wrap up the search soon.
“We are ok. At least no one was hurt,” Richard Casey said.
