LaPolla Little League Starts Saturday, Volunteers Work Garden at Hudson Valley Hospital Center

1.) Free Bereavement Support Group at Hudson Valley Hospital Center

This program, which is being provided  Hospice Care in Westchester and Putnam Counties, provides a comforting, supportive environment and opportunity to bond, share feelings, and learn techniques for dealing with grief. The support group meets today at noon at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center, located at 1980 Crompond Rd. in Cortlandt Manor. Call (914) 666-4228 ext. 492, to register or to learn more.

2.) Matinee Movie: "Skyfall"

The Hendrick Hudson Free Library, located on 185 Kings Ferry Rd. in  Montrose, is showing "Skyfall" from 1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. today as part of its matinee film series. The event is free. Call (914) 739-5654.

3.) Volunteers to Work at Hudson Valley Hospital Center’s Organic Garden for Earth Week

To celebrate Earth Week and the hospital’s commitment to sustainable food initiatives, Hudson Valley Hospital Center will hold a volunteer work day on today, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. to prepare its Organic Garden for Healing for the growing season. Volunteers are urged to bring gloves, shovels and trowels as a limited number of tools will be available for those who do not have them. Hudson Valley Hospital Center is located at 1980 Crompond Rd. in Cortlandt Manor.

4.)  3-D Letter Teen Craft Event at the Field Library

Teens & tweens are invited to stop by the Field Library in Peekskill for a workshop on designing and constructing three-dimensional letters and shapes. The event, which starts at 3:30 p.m. today, is free of charge and open to students in middle & high school. The event is underwritten by a grant from the H.O.P.E. For Youth Foundation, supporting Hudson Valley youth programs that foster healthy growth and positive achievement. 5.) LaPolla Little League Starts 50th Season in Peekskill

The Lapolla Little in Peekskill will start its 50th season Saturday. Last month officials were worried that they’d have to cancel the season due to a lack of player registrations, but they have been able to attract more players in recent weeks. Opening Day ceremonies begin 9 a.m. at the Little League Field on Tompkins Park, located at 1 Robin Dr.
