Burglary Suspect Jumps Out Police Station Window, Escapes, Arrested Again
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office arrested two Putnam Valley males for burglary; 22-year-old Christopher Rivera eluded police twice, the second time after jumping out the station window.

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of 24 year old Peter S. Segreto of Putnam Valley and 22 year old Christopher Rivera of the Lake Peekskill section of Putnam Valley.
Both men were allegedly committing a burglary on Shawnee Drive in the Town of Putnam Valley at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 1st when a 911 call from a resident alerted police in the area, resulting in the burglary being interrupted.

Mr. Segreto, who was allegedly driving the getaway car, was taken into custody approximately one mile from the home by Deputy Sheriff Michael Sutherland, while Mr. Rivera was able to flee the scene and elude police for more than 4 hours.
The Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services to all residents in the vicinity alerting them to the manhunt and potential danger and seeking their assistance. Putnam County Sheriffs deputies, New York State troopers, State Police and Sheriff’s K-9 units and a New York State Police helicopter searched the area until the second suspect was finally spotted and taken into custody by the State Police in the Jefferson Valley section of the Town ofYorktown.

While being detained at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters in Carmel, Christopher Rivera jumped out of a second floor window and briefly escaped from custody. Authorities again put out an alert and a “Reverse 911 Alert” to all residents in the Hamlet of Carmel requesting their help. All local law enforcement and the State Police immediately responded and Rivera was again apprehended by Patrolman James Evans, Detective Robert Bagnarol, and Deputy Sheriff John Kerwick less than an hour later in a wooded area about ½ mile from the Sheriff’s Office in the vicinity of the Fred Dill Conservation area.
Both subjects are awaiting arraignment at the time of this release on 2nd Degree Burglary charges, Class C Felonies. State Police investigators will also be interviewing the subjects on other potential matters and additional charges may be forthcoming from the State Police.
Sheriff Smith thanks the public for all their help and also noted that this operation truly epitomized the great teamwork we have in Putnam County with our State Police, local police, Carmel Police, Kent Police, Westchester County Police, MTA Police, Bureau of Emergency Services and all members of the Sheriff’s Office and Correctional Facility working together as a team to keep our County and our community safe.
