A 43-year-old Ossining resident whose license was suspended was intoxicated behind the wheel in Peekskill, officials say.
Peekskill Police Officer Michael Lawrence arrested Milton Flores Saturday. The defendant was traveling on North Division Street when he committed several traffic violations, according to authorities.
"A traffic stop was initiated where Lawrence detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver’s breath," police said in a statement. "The operator, Flores, failed numerous field sobriety tests which resulted in his arrest. Subsequent tests revealed Flores’s blood alcohol level twice the New York State legal limit of .08 percent."
Flores is facing a felony charge of driving while intoxicated—which is linked to a previous conviction—and a felony charge of first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police also charged him with two misdemeanors: aggravated driving while intoxicated and operating a vehicle without the mandated breath alcohol ignition interlock device.
The defendant was held pending arraignment. He will be due in Peekskill Justice Court at a later date.
