A 47-year-old Peekskill man is accused of driving with a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit.
Peekskill Police Officer Daniel Labodin arrested Fernando Ortega at about 2 a.m. Sunday, after a traffic stop on the 1,000 block of Park Street.
Ortega reportedly committed a traffic violation there. During the traffic stop Labodin "detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver’s breath."
The defendant failed field sobriety tests, and his blood-alcohol level was 0.16 percent, police say. The legal limit is 0.08.
Ortega was held pending arraignment.
