Cortlandt to Defend Title of Best Tap Water in Westchester Friday

Locals will decide in a blind taste test organized by the county on Friday, May 10.

The Town of Cortlandt will defend its reputation for having the best municipal tap water tomorrow during the Westchester County Health Department's annual municipal water taste test.

The Cortlandt Consolidated Water District will face the  Elmsford Village, City of Mount Vernon, City of Peekskill, Scarsdale Village, United Water New Rochelle, City of White Plains and City of Yonkers in the Westchester County Health Department's in a competition to determine which locality has the best water.

If you want to weigh in—head to the Michaelian Office Building (148 Martine Ave. White Plains) tomorrow between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to sample water.

"Last year’s winner and the one to beat is Cortlandt Consolidated Water District," the county announced.

"This yearly drinking water contest is a fun way to draw attention to the excellent quality of our public water supply," said Sherlita Amler, MD, commissioner of health in a statement. "It’s also a good time to recognize the local, county and state professionals who monitor our public water systems and ensure all our drinking water is safe."
