Entergy Returns Indian Point 3 Nuclear Power Plant to Service

Unit 3 was put back online Thursday afternoon.

From  Control room operators returned the Indian Point 3 nuclear power plant to service Thursday (March 1) afternoon. Operators had disconnected the plant from the electrical grid Wednesday to troubleshoot a problem with an auxiliary electrical transformer.

Unit 3 had been online generating electricity for 327 continuous days prior to Wednesday.

Unit 2 is at full power and has been online for 45 continuous days.

Indian Point Energy Center, in Buchanan, N.Y., is home to two operating nuclear power plants, unit 2 and unit 3, which generate approximately 2000 megawatts of electricity for homes, business and public facilities in New York City and Westchester County.
