
The Late Show’s Gospel Choir, known as “The Best A Cappella Choir in the U.S.A.!” will begiving a free concert on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 6 p.m., at Sacred Heart Church, located at118 South 5th Avenue (at East 2nd Street), in Mount Vernon, New York. Special guest choir will be the Mt. Vernon Interfaith Community Choir also known as The Mayor’s Choir. This soulfulconcert will feature classic Negro Spirituals, popular down-home hymns, traditional and urbanGospel music that will have you dancing in your seats.
The Late Show’s Gospel Choir has been singing together for the past 18 years, and they’ve been seen by millions of viewers on TV worldwide. Ironically, this choir was first formedfor the popular comedy show, CBS TV’s “LATE SHOW With DAVID LETTERMAN,” in October 1995, when Paul Shaffer, Musical Director of the show contacted Gospel singer, Lady Peachena, to form a choir to film a video for the show. However, when Paul heard thechoir’s incredible voices, he invited them to sing live on “THE LATE SHOW” the very next night.
Since then, they’ve performed on “THE LATE SHOW,” more than 12 times as featuredperformers, and backing artists: Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias, Darlene Love, MavisStaples, Martin Shore & Steve Martin.
