Gospel Concert Fundraiser, Garden Club Plant Sale and a Pet Food Drive

1.) Gospel Music Extravaganza Fundraiser for Juneteenth Scheduled for Today

The Peekskill Middle School is hosting the Gospel Music Extravaganza Thursday. The event, which is being held as fundraiser for this year’s Juneteenth Celebration in Peekskill, will feature gospel singers from Peekskill and the surrounding area. Tickets cost $5. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Call the Peekskill Youth Bureau at (914) 734-8418 for more information.

2.) Lanes Closed on Route 9 Due to Road Work
The state Department of Transportation will be working on Route 9 today until Friday, between Piping Rock Drive in Ossining and Welcher Avenue in Peekskill. One lane each on the north and southbound side of Route 9 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while the work is taking place.
3.) The Hen Hud Library’s Matinee of the Week: “Undefeated”
The Hendrick Hudson Library, located on 185 Kings Ferry Rd. in Montrose, is hosting a viewing of the movie “Argo” today at 1:30 p.m. as part of its weekday matinee series. The event is free.
4.) Garden Club of Peekskill Plant Sale
The Garden Club of Peekskill holds their annual “Mother’s Day Plant Sale” Saturday from 9 to 3 p.m. at the Riverfront Green Park. A limited pre-sale will be held on Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., near the entrance to the Riverfront Green Park. The sale will include popular annuals and herbs, from the Bogdanski Nursery on Pine Island. Profits from the sale are used towards the expenses at the Petals Rose Garden on Central Avenue in Peekskill, civic plantings at the Peekskill Gazebo and areas in Cortlandt, Buchanan and Verplanck. The club also awards an annual scholarship to a graduating high school senior.
5.) Hudson Valley Pet Food Drive Takes Place Saturday
The Hudson Valley Pet Food Pantry is organizing a food drive to help provide assistance pets of economically challenged, disabled and elderly residents of the Hudson Valley region in from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at ShopRite located at 2094 E.
