Hen Hud Junior Places Second at Tri-County Science Fair

Audrey Hecht, a junior at Hendrick Hudson High School, competed in the Science Fair last week.

On Saturday, April 20, Hendrick Hudson High School junior Audrey Hecht won Second Place in the Biology category at the Tri-County Science and Technology Fair, held at White Plains High School.

Audrey has worked very hard on researching molecular interactions acting on the Dopamine Transporter. She conducted her research under the guidance of Dr. Matthias Quick, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Columbia University Medical Center.

Her work is relevant to the development of new anti-depressant medications with specific actions on the Dopamine system. Dr. Matthias Quick has been committed to the success of our high school students and, in particular, dedicating a lot of time to the training and mentoring of Audrey. His dedication to the science research program is to becommended.

Hendrick Hudson’s Science Research program allows students to work on authentic research projects in academic institutions and get top training in skills, critical to their future success in college.

Audrey will continue her research this coming summer and compete again as a senior next year. She will, without doubt, be very successful in her future career in the professional world.
