Hen Hud Seniors Model Latest Fashions; Raise Money for Scholarships
More than 40 Hendrick Hudson High School seniors participated in the school's annual fashion show earlier this month.
Fashion was the name of the game at Hendrick Hudson High School when the senior class hosted its 7th annual fashion show earlier this month.
The show, which took place on March 15, is sponsored by the Hendrick Hudson High School PTSA with all proceeds supporting academic scholarships for graduating seniors. The theme for this year’s show was “Our Year of Style.”
Parents Sandra Ferguson and Jane Skolnick helped produce the event, which featured more than 40 student models. Ferguson, a former fashion model who now works as a stylist and fashion producer, used clothing from her own personal collection along with items donated by Cache, It’s SWAK, Marty’s Tuxedos, TJ Maxx and Marshall’s.

More than $50,000 worth of clothes and a total of about 3,000 items were donated to the show.
“We’ve been preparing for this since January,” Ferguson said. “The kids came over my house and I styled every one of them. I try to match them up with the look that I know that they can pull off. It’s almost like a real fashion week. That’s the feel that I wanted.”

Said Skolnick: “It’s really become a tradition in the years that we’ve done it. The kids really look forward to it. There’s a lot of hype around it and you see boys and girls involved.”
Segments for this year’s show included “Getting Leggy with It”, “Pop, Color, Life” and “Rock Star”. The “Formalwear” segment closed out the show.
Brad Barthelmes, a senior who participated in the show, said he was nervous during the show.
“It’s been a ton a fun,” Barthelmes said. “It’s a great fundraiser for the senior class. This is something totally different from anything any of us have done. We’ve just been so well prepared for this. It’s pretty scary at first, but Ms. Ferguson has done getting us prepared.”
Ferguson, whose son is graduating this year, said this year's show will be the last one she directs.
