HHHS Graduate Wins Praise For New Novel

Harper Collins published Tiffany Jackson's debut novel.

Peekskill-Cortlandt, NY—A novel written by a Hendrick Hudson High School graduate is earning serious praise from reviewers. “Allegedly,” written by Tiffany D. Jackson has been called an “indictment of the penal system’s decimating power” by Kirkus Reviews and “intensely relevant” by Publisher’s Weekly.”

The plot has been described as “Orange Is The New Black” meets Walter Dean Myers’ “Monster.” The debut novel follows a girl who is convicted of murder.

The novel’s main character Mary B. Addison has been incarcerated for allegedly killing a baby. The white baby was in the care of the churchgoing black woman and her nine-year-old daughter. Mary was tried and convicted, but she may be innocent.

According to an ALA Booklist review, the story “ends with a knife twist that will send readers racing back to the beginning again.”

Novelist Jackson also works as a TV professional. She received a bachelor of arts in film from Howard University and a master’s degree in media studies from New School University. She currently lives in Brooklyn.
