HVHC Wants You to Love Your Heart this Valentine’s Day

Hospital hosts healthy heart fair with free screenings and wellness activities.

The following is a press release from theHeart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, for both men and women. Coronary artery disease (CAD), the most common type of heart disease, is a direct cause of heart attacks, but, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), you can reduce your risk by making simple lifestyle changes such as eating healthy, increasing physical activity and not smoking.

Hudson Valley Hospital Center (HVHC) wants you to love your heart this Valentine’s Day with free screenings and healthy heart counseling. Visit the main lobby of the hospital on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and talk with nurses, dieticians and other health care professionals who can provide information on cholesterol and blood pressure, weight loss, exercise, nutrition and wound care.

“It’s very important for each person to take the time and understand what their individual risks are, and the preventative measures available for them,” said Joanne Campbell, Director of the Wellness Club and Cardio Rehab. The Healthy Heart Fair gives the community a chance to see all of the options available here at HVHC.”

Also participating in the health fair will be members of the NYU Langone Hudson Valley Cardiology Group now located in the medical office building at HVHC. The group brings the highest level of experience and quality of care to the Hudson Valley in a brand new medical suite.
