Indian Point Official Explains Shut Down, Riverkeeper Says Plant Should Close

Indian Point official Jerry Nappi explains why Entergy needs to repair a transformer, Riverkeepers Phillip Musegaas calls for the plant to close.

operators had toyesterday to disconnect a transformer from the plant while they troubleshoot the transformer. 

The Journal News interviewed Entergy spokesman Jerry Nappi and Phillip Musegaas, Riverkeeper’s lead Indian Point analyst yesterday. Nappi explained what happened and why Unit 3 had to be shut down. Musegaas talked about past issues at Indian Point, and said that this transformer problem is an example of an aging plant and called for Indian Point to be shut down.
