Lakeland Schools Plan to Reopen Wednesday
The Lakeland school district will remained closed Monday and Tuesday.

Editor’s Note: The following statement was posted on the Lakeland school district’s Web site earlier this afternoon.
As of Sunday afternoon, Lakeland still has an estimated 30 to 40 percent of homes and businesses and two of our schools without power. There are approximately 30 inaccessible bus stop locations and at least 17 additional locations with unsafe conditions including low hanging wires and tree. Additionally many of these locations have no access to telephone or internet. To further complicate matters, storm damage has cut the two-way communications with our buses. Best estimates from the towns indicate most power will be restored by Wednesday. For these reasons, the Lakeland Central School District schools will be closed to students on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 5 and 6.
The Superintendent's Conference Day on Friday, May 24, 2013 now becomes a student instructional day. Staff will report Monday, November 5 to Lakeland High School. The district will hold Superintendent Conference Days for staff on Monday and Tuesday, and at this time we should plan to reopen for students on Wednesday, Nov. 6th.
We are in touch with our legislators for additional assistance in the school calendar.
